Interwoven Stretch Cuff
Below are additional photos and instructions to supplement the instructions provided in Advanced Chain Maille Jewelry Workshop for the Interwoven Stretch Cuff. Supplies used are 16swg, 9/32”id bright aluminum (BA) jump rings and 12 x 8 x 2mm rubber rings. Open all BA jump rings before weaving. Rubber jump rings = closed jump rings.
Make a strip of European 4-in-1 (E41) to length, as described on pages 20-21. The aluminum jump rings make up the center row and the stretchy jump rings make up the outer rows.
Use 1 aluminum jump ring to join the 4 rubber rings at the ends of the strip making a closed circle, as described on page 24 – alternate joining method.
Now you will begin to weave into the E41 base to complete the Interwoven weave:
The Interwoven Weave instructions on page 85 are written for weaving a flat piece using all metal jump rings. These instructions need to be slightly adjusted for working in the round with rubber rings. Therefore, instead of beginning by threading 1 closed jump ring onto 1 open jump ring, you need to begin by threading 2 closed jump rings onto 1 open jump ring. You can begin weaving at any spot. Weave the open jump ring following the path shown on page 85, illustration 2. In this case, however, you will be attaching 2 closed jump rings to your piece instead of 1 (yellow/green). Use another open jump ring and follow the weaving path shown on page 85, illustration 3, to attach the 2 closed jump rings to the other side of the band.
At this point, the instructions on page 85 show only 1 closed jump ring added, not 2. Therefore, if you ignore the yellow rubber jump ring just added (just pretend it’s not there), you can follow the illustrations in the book to continue weaving the pattern. This is the leftmost jump ring. It is erroneously referred to as the rightmost jump ring on page 101. See photos below showing next closed jump ring added (orange).
Work your way around the band until you’ve added the last closed jump ring (white).
Weave in the last 2 open jump rings to secure the first and last closed jump rings added (yellow/white), completing the bracelet.
